Chichester Culture
The city of Chichester is a hub for an exciting programme of events reaching out across the entire Chichester district from the downland villages and the towns of Midhurst and Petworth in the north, to the coastline and the Manhood Peninsula in the south, and from there to the wider region of West Sussex and beyond.
It is a region bustling with artistic activity, from individual artists tucked away down quiet country lanes to the hustle and bustle of major events at Goodwood attracting huge crowds.
If you know Chichester, you will know that its Roman foundations and Georgian architectural heritage are home to a lively arts scene, with exciting contemporary work being created and shown alongside a rich inheritance of traditional art forms, much of it world class.
If you do not know the area, please come and find out for yourself just what we have to offer.
Chichester district was among the final 14 cities in the bid to be named the first UK City of Culture in 2013. It was announced on the afternoon of the 24 February 2010 that it had not made the further shortlist of four entries. The final shortlist is: Birmingham, Derry/Londonderry, Norwich and Sheffield.
"We are waiting to receive the feedback from the panel and we hope to release more information on this at a later date."
